- As an architect and a woodworker I like to be innovative as well as creative.  Hence the liberties I have taken with  boxes to make them approach sculptures.

- Here are two attempts:  The one on the left is made from cocobolo and spalted tamerind. The one on the right is made from walnut, cherry and purple heart. These boxes are made from leftover drawer cutouts. The left box is 12-inches tall and the right, 8-inches.  All of the cutting and shaping was done with a bandsaw.

The timber is primarily black walnut. The legs and laminated segments in the drawer pulls are purple heart. The dowels are Ebony. The main walnut box is approx 12” tall by 4” wide by 2 3/4” deep at the widest point. The spread between the purple heart legs at the widest is about 7”.
